George Bush Essay
Initiative is a quality that Americans consistently search for in a president. US Presidents have an extraordinary measure of duty. Americans search for somebody that can enable our nation to develop. We search for somebody who has allure, quality and insight. George W. Bramble had an intriguing administration. It was loaded up with delight, strife and fiasco, all which were times where a pioneer could either succeed or come up short. George W. Hedge was the 43rd President of the United States. He had the entirety of the capability of an incredible president. He originated from a political family. He was the child of previous President George H.W. Hedge. He had an incredible instructive and military foundation. He moved on from Yale University and afterward Harvard Business School. He was a pilot for the Air National Guard for a long time. He worked in the oil business after school where he was known for his shrewd business choices. He served in Texasââ¬â¢ House of Representatives and afterward Governor of Texas. Most Americanââ¬â¢s would likely accept that these capabilities would make him an incredible possibility for President and in 2000 he was chosen President, vanquishing Al Gore by just little edge. (Hedge 3) Picking George W. Shrub I decided to explore and break down President Bush since he was president during the greatest assault on Americanââ¬â¢s during my lifetime. He needed to step up and turn into the extraordinary pioneer that our country required during and after the psychological militant assault on September eleventh, 2001. President Bush is as yet being accused for a portion of the issues that America is having now. President Obama censures him for the economy and numerous Americanââ¬â¢s have reprimanded him for our proceeded with nearness in the Middle East. I needed to investigate his initiative capacities and comprehend why he went from being a not terrible, but not great either President to an incredible president to a president that is being accused for everything. I likewise observe President Bush as an ordinary individual with qualities and shortcomings. I consider him to be somebody like myself. I need to all the more likely get him and gain from his accomplishments and his missteps. President Bush was not a conceived pioneer. Despite the fact that President Bush had the resume that Americanââ¬â¢s thought would make him an incredible pioneer, toward the start of his administration, he was deficient with regards to a portion of the key characteristics of aâ good pioneer. He didn't show trust in his choices and he came up short on the comprehension of worldwide issues. (Domin 3) After the awfulness of September eleventh, he truly ventured up and took on his influential position. He had the option to show America that he was the pioneer that they imagined that they would get in an American President. President Bush had the option to unite his supporters in a period of catastrophe, joining them for a shared objective. He had the option to leave the entirety of the analysis that he had gotten behind him and become another pioneer that everybody regarded. Moreover, I needed to explore President Bush on the grounds that a significant number of the global issues that America looked during President Bushââ¬â¢s terms are as yet waiting today. American lives are still in danger due to fear based oppressor gatherings. It was just a few months prior that the U.S. Department in Benghazi was assaulted by fear based oppressor slaughtering the US Ambassador and three others. I question the viability of our present organization and their capacity to protect America. (Kirkpatrick, and Myers) Capacities and Skills Despite the fact that President Bush was not an incredible pioneer from the earliest starting point, I accept that he had the option to step up and turn into the extraordinary pioneer that we required him to be. He grasped the vital capacities and aptitudes that America required in a pioneer after an emergency. The first and most significant trademark that he had after September eleventh was passionate knowledge. He comprehended the seriousness of the circumstance and had the option to address the general population in a manner that helped us meet up as a nation. Woodward offered this remark about how President Bush tended to people in general before Ground Zero. ââ¬Å"Bushââ¬â¢s immediacy permitted him to interface at an instinctive level with his crowd: acting at the same time as their pioneer and communicating their emotions in the exceptionally charged air of the time.â⬠(Roper 5) I accept that President Bush additionally includes the four qualities that depict an imaginative pioneer. President Bush confronted probably the greatest obstruction of any President and he had the fearlessness to lead. (Nahavandi 115) Thousands of guiltless Americans had been executed through a fear based oppressor assault. He realized that America was entering a period of war. Despite the fact that a significant number of his consultants were uncertain of the choices to assault Afghanistan, he was solid about his convictions and he offered consolation to his guides. A columnist who was available during the National Security Council meeting before the underlying assaults in Afghanistan saw the strain in the room before President Bush was available however said that, ââ¬Å"the pressure out of nowhere depleted from the room.â⬠(Roper 5)

A Review of Intelligence for an Age of Terror (Treverton, 2009). The WritePass Journal
A Review of Intelligence for an Age of Terror (Treverton, 2009). Presentation A Review of Intelligence for an Age of Terror (Treverton, 2009). IntroductionConclusionsReferenceRelated Presentation This book by Treverton (2009) is contended here to be an imperatively significant region of work that takes a gander at the manner by which the utilization of insight has normally needed to change because of current society. Strikingly, in spite of the fact that there is an unmistakable point not to allot fault explicitly for the ongoing abominations, the creator shows that he feels there is a connection between the United States and their imperfect way to deal with knowledge and the prominent dread assaults that have occurred in the US. Fundamentally, the creator is mindful so as not to allocate fault or finger point and keeps up a reasonable and basic methodology when attempting to set up a connection and to take a gander at the job of insight. Principle Arguments Presented In this book, the writer really proceeds to separate the disappointments, so as to attempt to distinguish the effect that the particular deficiencies are having on the extent and nature of the objective of the dangers. He perceives in this investigation that, as a rule, the insight approaches are revered neglected War security approaches of taking a gander at the association and the strategic choices of the knowledge contributions, instead of concentrating on the real dangers that are being looked in the present atmosphere (Riley et al 2005). One of the fundamental parts of the book which gives increased the value of the data that is being introduced is that, in spite of the fact that the writer invests energy recognizing the failings, he additionally invests some significant time taking a gander at the manner by which the progressions he recommends could be actualized, practically speaking. As an expert with involvement with the field, this shows and enhances what might somehow or another be a conceivably scholarly conversation. So as to accomplish this, the creator takes an exceptionally businesslike view, with the underlying stage being to take a gander at the idea of the dangers that are taking a gander at being focused from knowledge tasks. He expresses that perceiving the dangers is the initial move towards then having the option to perceive the way these ought to be taken care of. It is this down to earth approach which takes a gander at both the reasonable reality and the scholastic investigation that makes this book so enlightening in the zone of insight being utilized in the fear setting. The creator follows topics and subsequent to distinguishing them he at that point proceeds to take a gander at how insight ought to be improved to manage the cutting edge difficulties. So as to distinguish the most ideal approach to manage insight and to take a gander at the change of knowledge culture, there is a need first to consider the genuine course of the danger and where it radiates from. One basic contention and topic which is introduced by the creator here and which enhances the conversation, in the assessment of the commentator, is to take a gander at the job of the country state as being at the base of the evolving dynamic. For instance, during the Cold War, the focal point of dread assaults was regularly country states and as such the knowledge gathering focussed on these elements. As time has passed, the country states have gotten significantly more than just objective territories. Country states can frequently offer a lot of data that adds to the information and compre hension of the general issues of insight. Progressively anyway in the advanced setting, the non-state entertainers assume an imperatively significant job and it is contended by the creator here that a great part of the job of the cutting edge insight official is to take a gander at understanding the differentiations and different subtleties that exist inside these non-state on-screen characters, so that their own inspiration and activities can be better comprehended (p.141) Connected to this string of conversation and again a fundamentally significant part of the job of insight is that there are extensively more people, gatherings and elements that are engaged with the region of knowledge social occasion to forestall fear mongering. With this expanded number of individuals included, the creator puts a lot of spotlight on that, while offices may well have the innovation to share data, they don't really have the proper arrangements set up and subsequently the basic approaches should be looked into, if present day challenges will be managed. As a general position, the creator keeps up that there should be a sensible methods for providing data over every single significant on-screen character and to guarantee that the data which is being introduced is applicable and estimated, so the right individuals can respond rapidly and fittingly. By concentrating on a portion of the reasonable challenges looked in the present atmosphere, it is contended here that the creator increases an a lot higher level of authenticity than other scholastic examinations around there may accomplish; specifically, the creator perceives that it is important to take a harmony between the need to improve security, yet additionally to give protection and security to individualsââ¬â¢ data (Snowden, 2002). He takes note of that focusing on legitimateness and authenticity is in reality progressively essential to the counter fear endeavors and that there then should be an all out audit of the arrangements related with hostile to dread exercises as the primary method of overseeing and fighting such issues. He underpins this by recommending that components, for example, urging knowledge specialists to make a technique whereby they can impart data to different elements in a useful and adjusted way is as significant, if not more in this way, than the real insight itself. Ends On balance, it is contended that this book presents an intriguing and all around educated assessment on the advanced difficulties confronting the knowledge business. By being a creator who has handy involvement with this zone, it is proposed this permits the content to pick up authenticity and furthermore to take an increasingly adjusted perspective on the difficulties being confronted. At long last, giving reasonable and all around upheld up recommendations for the future implies that this content presents genuine incentive to the region of insight and counter psychological oppressor exercises. It is finished up, thusly, this is an even and educational book that fills a hole inside the present comprehension of the knowledge business. The Influence of Scarcity of Resources and Other Factors in the Committal of Offences - Free Essay Example
The perception that the Offenders are failing and Labour laws are in crisis also is an old phenomenon as there is cyclical process. Needs never come to an end and there is no limit of having wishes as well. There is need of continuous development and need is achieved in case of any miracle or in result of any issue pertaining to the sustained development as well as leading authority. Success is a factor that provides a person ability to have more success and it inoculates a part of the life in establishing structures and methods for will. Will and motivation must be substantially involved in designing path and goals for future aims. Motivation is intrinsic and extrinsic; a pair of the family members who cannot come to a winning bread situation can never put an example in front of their offender that through such techniques they have made it happen. Motivation to the offender in this case would be intrinsic if parents are successful and have successful strategies. In case there is maximum output in form of money or bonuses, there would be an extrinsic reward and motivation for the parents and offender as well. It has entailed the idea behind notion of cyclical process and history is associated with this entire phenomenon as there is an everlasting process of having aims and then striving for those aims. This can never be achieved till death and inherited to the offender having new goals, new aims and new wishes. New world do not make sure the success and failure as with changes, technology addition and provoked thinking, certain issues are also attached those have made the man mechanical part of the life itself. The entire person is required to have short term goals and let them be achieved in a short but happy life. This strategy is helpful in less developed and developing countries whereas developed countries are involved in industrial infrastructures. Industrial capitalism is the essence of hour as success of country is assessed through its rol e in the effective sources and industry development all over the world. To make it happen, the key party that is used and deployed more than anything else is manpower. Manpower of any country is mainly dependent upon the power of young people and offender who are going to map out the future of any country. Nineteenth century has made it true that people are controlled by time period and they have to move along the reign of time. Time span has made it impossible for people to have their own desires and system of life management. They were bound as technologies and development increased and involved manpower more and more. There was specific system designed for all people to live and breathe in the world. People have to meet up the tasks assigned to them and these tasks are also based upon the industrial growth and development not including human resources needs. Human resources and socialist has aroused questions regarding safety of manpower and let them survive in a middle wishes be lt in order to have more successful and prosperous economy. It also did an effective impact over economy success and powerful achievements. A list of strategies have been developed to interlink aims of people with organizational aims and then work out along the plan as they are more crucial to the success of any plan. Labour walk outs and strikes were main cause of this imbalance in the economy. Social curses have also arouse in the nineteenth and twentieth century as they are of deemed cause in response of technology and overuse of running man through system requirement as compared to system running as per man rules. There is an ample of research dealing with the offenders and criminal behavior in society but there is no issue of reports and articles in relation to offending behavior of offender and young people. People considered for such studies are limited up to the specific range of criminal people, people at workforce, sex offenders, employers, higher authorities, and adult s. These all categories are dealt in basic models and theories as a large time has been spent by researcher in correlating the social curses like offending with the main cause involving nature and social causes exempting human from all the phenomenon. No single factor can be put here to deal in offending behaviors but study can be referred to scarcity of resources and getting the situation cursed with blemish attitudes of people and social authorities. Offender are new page to write it over and their minds are ready to be colored as per the paint of society and family. In case of lagging behind in resources and family satisfaction, offender feel it obvious to arrange for their living necessities by hook or crook. Modeling techniques and theories based upon specific research cannot define the specific circumstances and issues pertained to all the offender and young people all over the world. There is yet a better approach made towards unfolding crux of behavioral causes and social im pact in shaping up an offender. Considering Offender, despite of the young and offender criterion are in need of getting a right path as they must be dealt in the way they deserve. Any person who commits his mistake and ready to turn back, he must be provided with the right option to admit all he has done and control his behavioral factor in front of any misdeed and controversial approach in future lying ahead. Subcultural theories are started from America and have Chicago history claim. Theory presented by Shaw and McKay in Chicago. They did study over Chicago crime rate in juvenile. There is major contribution of theories in explaining behavior of youth offending and reasons correlated to them. They did delinquency rates calculation and arrived at conclusion that countries with maximum crime rates are based in the middle or central region of city as compared to other outer regions that do have less crime rates. Differential Association Theory is developed in Chicago by Edwin Su therland and Donald Cressey. They have related deviant behavior and crime nature. They have not certainly defined the role mainly but there is strong relationship between social causes and relevant nature of human. Cloward and Ohlin put a theory in adherence with criminology and offending behaviors of human. Delinquency model is accepted and proposed by them, as they believe that more crimes are reason of just limited and blocked legitimates. They have marked the boundaries and their impact on handling maximum of the issues. Boundaries are causing issues and making it awful for having satisfied and civilized citizens. Subcultural theories have made it possible to clarify and write up the main issues those have been causing crimes as well as offences. Offending behavior of young generation is depended upon limits and area specifications as they have to be dealt in accordance with their changing behavior age. Age factor is not dependent upon level of growth parents and society is resp onsible for. There is maximum need of considering social causes and social curses as they play more role in shaping minds and behaviors. This is what the real working area in which subcultural theories explained human beings and their variant behaviors along with social ups and downs. Youth offending is less likely to be non-problematic relatively for those persons and offender who have suffered a large range of social segregations. Multiple factors are determinants and derivative of any personality. It is necessary to have a look at all the factors those can participate in managing personality and then a young must be analyzed. Young generation having a lot of sufferings grow up with a behavior of null impact of virtues and ethics. They are not having concern about what is right and what is wrong, they know one thing only that what must be done and what is in their favor. According to them, there will be a specific criterion for evaluation of universe and all unwanted elements m ust be removed at any stake. Adulthood criminology is discussed in copious nature but there is no specific high lightening of issues that would led to a young to adult transition through suffering social curses and outcome of such situation. Outcome, in real and factual analysis would last a long and would be in favor of the person himself. If a person suffering from a long time and he does not make any offending behavior action, he would be unable to survive in the society race. This does not entails the relationship of offending with a genuine reason of social pressure but it is somehow true, although not rationale. Social theories and concepts has deemed to be true in case of offending behavior as they clearly consider mental condition in response of social issues. All the issues and factors, that may also be divorce element in case of separated parental grow up family structure, offender will have more impact on his mind growth and emotive expressions. All the conditions are wel l expressed in social theories and tend to be expressed in adulthood effect. Justice model of youth is highly progressive as it has been conducted for mainly youth offences and reasons behind this. This model was done by youth experts and they really participated in the study as per requirements. There is much more focus on youth and offenders are used as major point of focus in this study. Offenders are not responsible for any misdeed or their behavioral change but they will be responsible for the destruction in society and other elements in result of their activities. Offenders are responsible for their destructive works as they are considered as major focal point for making up minds and their condition is accepted as societyââ¬â¢s mistake. They have been dealt in generous manner to arrive at any agreed point. Justice and behavioral support models are based upon reasons and causes associated with any situation. Justice cause it happen and make sure that no single person is r esponsible for any situation but it is the society as a whole that must be answerable for certain factors and situations vulnerable for young generation. Young generation is key element and considered as most effective part of society if taken care of in whole processes of updating and mentoring relationships as well as legitimacies. Youth models are other than this and this area has been studied for maximum level as it has strong impact in society as a subject and as an asocial curse as well. In defining the situation and designing the limits, it is observed to have fixed laws and restrictions that would make young people bound since from their childhood so that it would not go with them through transition towards adulthood. Other models have also been studied in contrast with this model as they oppose criminal nature of offenders. Industrial capitalism is based upon development and large cities whereas it has been discussed that large areas having more crime rate at main cities or main areas like central areas of any country but it is not in the outer areas of country. In case of correlation of juvenile work along with young generation along with the industrial capitalism, there is high factor of young people dealing in high aims. Justice system is developed as offenders are not responsible for their acts and behaviors. It is said on the basis of reason or rationale that in case of more technology and more development, there would be more and more social curses and issues arising. In case of more social curses, it would be hectic, to have consideration of no offence and neutral system. System has to be analyzed time and again in order to assure needs and behaviors in response of needs. All the young people must be trained and saved from the social ambiguous characters as they would make them exposed to harm and let the other things be gliding for them. Young people are yet to be considered for their nature and role in making up whole process in favor of a ll the stakeholders. As it is impossible to have a situation in which no one is affected and all parties are in win win situation, so it is quite unrealistic to imagine for a zero factor of offences with having maximum of progress and economic abilities of country. Economic aims must be lessened to have more ethical situation and imaginary world achievement. All the situation and processes must be less complicated to have a simple and prosperous lead toward people lives aligned with simple industrial world. Conservative youth justice policy planning is based upon two different eras and there is large difference in the time change. In earlier less of the focus is paid to youth justice and they were not provided with more facilities to combat situation. Later, there was high level of cooperation and collaboration with offenders in a sense of leaders providing service that enhanced their level of analyzing situation and let the situation happen for right and wrong aspect. It made an effective change that aligned role of leader in designing key strategy for offenderââ¬â¢s role in destructive and constructive form of society. It has real meaning in taking specific steps and let the leaders play their desired role to control situation as offenders are criminal some times and make a real effect on social and economic situation of any country at any specific time. This act has introduced the same as per the act and laws of eighteen years old introduction about youth justice system. They have provided with all same issues and concern as in the case of earlier rules. For example they have included provisions to prevent disorder and crime, rebuttable presumptionââ¬â¢s abolishment, provisions regarding failure of offender to provide evidence at his trial etc. These all are related to the earlier defined rules and regulations those were made for young people and offender role and safety for offences as well as their transition from offender to civilized citizen s. Most of the issues are same with certain short amendments, as there is need of maximum effort and leading for situation so there is need of continuous change and improvement to detain offenders from involving into high level of illegitimate functions and wrongdoings. New labour youth justice policy can be considered as a successful element as it has defend all the required rules and regulations, that any labour or employer must be assumed to comply with. It would put a reduction factor against offenders and their effect in handling situation. Labour youth justice laws has considered offender as main party and they would not be punished for any matter in which they would be exposed to any certain situation through any other party. In case of involvement by them in any certain case, at their own will, they would be highly punished and laws can cause punish, penalty or whatever they feel suitable for case. Labour laws are ineffective in some of the aspects as they have continuous reliance on custodial sentencing for young offenders. The must provide with simple and effective strategies not dependent upon certain factors related to sentencing and overwhelming objects. Sentencing offender is the major loophole in labour laws as they are required to present new but safe ideas and structures for offender as well as economy. Following the situation, government has tended towards more reliable and more social curseââ¬â¢s uprooting phenomenon. There are more strategic plans in which there will be an analysis of the youth and offender sentencing. As sentencing is not solution of getting all the things collaborated with economic situation and social causes are having more ratios in cause offending. Behavior of offenders is not confined up to selected rules and regulations, yet they require maximum of knowledge and unbiased attitudes for making up their personality according to required criterion. Keeping labour laws and social legitimacies in mind, new laws an d acts must be designed. It has to be noted that more the boundaries will be put on offenders more they would be rebellious to the system defined by authorities. Major reforms those must be implemented include maximum of the efforts and causes beyond the circle dictating situation. Key factors include social situation, status of persons involving in processes, offences nature, social curses, major social parties and all those parties who can make a crucial impact on decision and their execution. Summing it all up, it is of focal reason that offences and crimes are not bound to any single situation. It starts from a common phenomenon of scarcity of resources and involvement of all other certain factors like parentââ¬â¢s nature, social pressure, bad company, low repute area and time again involvement in offences. It would expose personality of offenders toward high crime rate and major areas as theory has defined that major areas have more crime rate as compared to areas in oute r or non-familiar regions. The belt of facts and risks associated with that will be planned according to offender nature. Most of the offenders are of rebellious nature and behave in pessimistic way as they have involved in offences and social exclusions from transition of youth to adulthood. Certain theories have been discussed in detailed like subcultural theories explain deviant behavior and offenderââ¬â¢s nature whereas all theories are not specific with young and offender element. They have discussed in detail about criminals and offenders. More the offenders will be dealt in soft attitude and lenient terms and condition, more it would recover them mentally, it might be slow process but it can be a successful approach yet.

The poem is about loneliness, tragedy and heartache. This same theme follows in John Steinbeckââ¬â¢s novella. There is parallel between both the novella and the poem. Essay on Music Video Critique - 1357 Words
JL English 101 Music Video Critique REVISED VERSION Music has always been a form of expression. The artist is able to convey their feelings through song, getting their listener engaged and sensing the same emotion. In todayââ¬â¢s world, there are less and less songs that people can connect with. Songs try to be more catchy and promote good times that people should be feeling, instead of the sensations that they actually feel. One such man that has yet to succumb to this is Five for Fightingââ¬â¢s John Ondrasik. He has written several songs about love, life, and human imperfections. One of his most famous songs that brought him into the spotlight was his single ââ¬Å"Superman (Itââ¬â¢s Not Easy)â⬠. This song is one of the greatest songs of the decadeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The camera then moves over one window to where Ondrasik is standing alone. He begins to sing, and from there his piano appears and the rest of his band appears. One of the video elements that the director used to move from scene to scene is hav ing the setting fade in and out as the camera changes angles. The music video continues, but at the end Ondrasik is singing alone in the woods. As the camera moves above him looking down, the woman and baby are revealed laying on a mattress by his feet. He lays down with them on the mattress in the woods as the song ends. This opening and closing gives a bit more of Ondrasikââ¬â¢s exact point in life. He has a woman (presumably his wife) and (also assuming) a child with another one on the way. Ondrasik has all this responsibility and he has to be his familyââ¬â¢s Superman, but is not sure if he can do it. After all, he is only human. Some people could argue that this topic may narrow the scope of audience members that connect with it, but the song is strong enough to go past this specific instance. I would say that it would just hit home more with those men and women who are in a similar time in their lives. Another key symbol that ties in with the changing backgrounds (which I immediately noticed) is the picture of the woods. It is first seen when John Ondrasikââ¬â¢s band shows up in the beginning. Later on, when Ondrasik is walking through a party and sits down at a piano, you can see it on the wall behind a couple. The video does aShow MoreRelatedSociology: Sexual Objectification of Women in Music Videos Today915 Words à |à 4 Pageswomen in music videos today. God (478 words) Essay Example For Students
God (478 words) Essay Godstate of affairs. According to this view, what people believe about something in no way alters reality. Since as long a s For the purpose of our discussion on critical thinking, we shall define truth as objective reality, the actual i can remember, my parents have taught me to believe in God, the father of Jesus Christ, the one who created the world we live in today. As I got older and a little more wiser I started to question this invisible figure. Who is he? How do I know that he can perform miracles? Does he forgive you of your sins? Just as I started to find out if Santa Clause was really a figment of my imagination, I wanted to know the same about God, I wanted to know the truth.. And soon i learned the truth. When I was at the age of seven, I found out that my Grandmother, from my dads sisde of thte family was very ill, her kidneys gave out, and she needed a transplant. I remember that day very vividly, i remember walking into the hospital room where she was placed at the time, and a sort of silence with a mixture of darkness in the room. We entered and the Doctor had told my family and I that there was no kidney transplant available for my Grandmother. It was a shock to my family and me. Everyone knew if there wasnt a transplant that she wouldnt make it. Yet my family did not loose faith, they kept on praying and praying just so that she wouldnt die. The next day my father recieved a call, and that call changed the way I felt about my religion and God. The doctor had told my father that my uncle that has been living in another country for over the past twelve years was going to donate one of his kidneys to his mother. I could not believe it but this event, and experience changed the trut h. Another event that i experienced that altered the way i looked at reality, and believing in God was when i was ten years old, and my mother had a pre-mature baby and the doctors said that the baby was in no chance of making it. My little brother had not fully developed his organs inside completely, and i think that God was on our side, and helped my family and I overcome the biggest fears of loosing a life that was born and almost taken. This event also helped change the truth that I was looking for. What people believe about something in no way altars reality. This is a characteristic of me that will never change no matter what, due to these events it altered my belief in God, in that he does perform miracles and he does listen to your prayers. Religion

Twentieth and Twenty
Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Music Essay There was also an increased presence of vocals being used in the creation of music during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This had much to do with the change in culture as well as the advancements in technology and increased the variety of venues musical performers could play in. The new electronic instruments also developed during this time were a strong contributor in the large increase of different types of music created. A large number of new musical genres were created during the 20th and 21st centuries. These include but are not limited to Jazz, Rock and Roll, Country, Blues, Folk, Pop, RB, Rap, and Electronic. We will write a custom essay on Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Music specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Many of these new genres are derivatives of earlier forms of music and many have sub genres underneath the main ones. This huge influx of new musical genres was due in part to the large numbers of immigrants entering the United States and the melding of different cultures into one another. The melding of cultures helped bring new ideas and some new musical inventions such as the electric guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, synthesizer, sampler, and keyboards to create fresh new melodies. It was through these freedoms and experimentation that musicians were able to express ideas that would change the way the world would view and hear music forever. Music has evolved in the 20th and 21st centuries through contributions from men, women and even children to some extent. Although some music remained for men only such as the Jewish folk music known as Sleeker, many of the new genres of music during this time period involved woman performers. (Sleeker) Women had been writing music before the 20th century for decades, but it wasnt until the 20th century that they finally begin to gain prominence and gain some recognition for their accomplishments. Osborne) However, women still faced challenges in many aspects of music during the 20th and 21st centuries as they increased their roles in mom of the newer musical genres, they like their women business world counterparts encountered more resistance and bias when trying to transcend more traditional genres such as classical music. (Osborne) In a recent study by Alimenting and Hickman, estimated the percentages of women represented in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Music By azalea re presentation of women at 36%, followed by the U. K. T 30%, and 16% for East and West Germany. (Osborne) While in decades past the typical orchestra consisted typically of white males of European descent, today women are increasing their numbers with nearly half of all students currently at conservatories of music being women. (Osborne) Whether it is men or women controlling the orchestra, one thing is for certain: music will continuously evolve and change. An increase in the use of vocal music lead to a dramatic increase in the different types of venues musicians performed at during the 20th and 21st centuries. Typically during the early 20th century, vocal music was only performed in half shell open stages like those found in theater and opera houses, but today there is a much larger variety of venues for musicians to play in from those that hold thousands to mom that only hold a few dozen. Today it mainly depends on the popularity of the music and is ultimately up to the musician as to whether they prefer a large open stage with thousands of people or a small club type atmosphere where the people are closer and the musician feels more intimate and involved with the audience. While the centuries before many venues were used for the primary purpose of the operas or symphony orchestras, most of todays venues serve as multi-purpose event complexes. With the explosion of sports along with music during the 20th and 21st centuries, an arena or stadium may hold a basketball game one night and have a withy and blues concert on the next night. Many of these arenas and stadiums are setup for musical venues with lighting and acoustics already in place, the only thing that usually has to be done is to build up a stage and sell the tickets. .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .postImageUrl , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:hover , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:visited , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:active { border:0!important; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:active , .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836 .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc5133b6277c326c47b22e7e0af4c9836:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Music Through The Decades EssayThe ability for these venues to hold thousands of people and the mass marketing available to musical performs today help create a cash flow that was never even dreamed of in the centuries of music before. Qualitative and quantative research is to analyze and interpret data Essays
Qualitative and quantative research is to analyze and interpret data Essays Qualitative and quantative research is to analyze and interpret data Essay Qualitative and quantative research is to analyze and interpret data Essay Qualitative and quantitative research designs are used to roll up, analyze and interpret informations so that more meaningful information is obtained. Qualitative research efforts to set up a mostly narrative, and holistic description to enable the research worker understand about a given cultural or societal phenomenon. A qualitative research is conducted within natural scenes with the usage of interviews, paperss reappraisals, and observations which can be used at the same clip. Qualitative research has got many features including being inductive, subjective and being realistic among other features. Qualitative research uses purposeful type of trying to roll up informations. Quantitative research is the orderly experimental probe of phenomena and quantitative belongingss and their relationships. Quantitative research is loosely used in societal scientific disciplines for case, sociology, political scientific discipline, psychological science and anthropology. The quantitative research designs are either experimental or descriptive. Quantitative research is characterized by being deductive, nonsubjective, and usage of Numberss. It uses random trying to obtain informations from a given population. Qualitative research design Qualitative research can be defined as the system of question that attempts to set up a mostly narrative, and holistic description to enable the research worker understand about a given cultural or societal phenomenon. A qualitative research is conducted within natural scenes with the usage of interviews, paperss reappraisals, and observations which can be used at the same clip. Therefore a qualitative research design is a program for assemblage and using the qualitative information for the coveted information to be obtained with equal preciseness or in order for the void hypothesis to be tested in the right manner. Qualitative research covers many signifiers of enquiry that are of import in understanding and explicating the significance of societal phenomena with really small perturbation to the natural scenes if any. The signifiers of enquiry include realistic enquiry, field survey, interpretive research, instance survey, descriptive anthropology, participant observation, and induc tive research ( Maxwell, 2005 ) . Qualitative survey has got several features and they include realistic enquiry, holistic position, inductive analysis, qualitative information, personal contact and penetration, alone instance orientation, dynamic systems, empathic neutrality, context sensitiveness, subjectiveness and design flexibleness. Naturalistic enquiry is concerned with analyzing state of affairss in the real-world without pull stringsing or upseting the participants, and holding an observation on what takes topographic point such that the facts are accepted as they unfold. Naturalistic enquiry goes beyond mensurable or touchable variables to focus on on the research participants societal buildings. Social buildings are the merchandises of sense devising, intending doing mental activities in which human existences take part as a consequence of interaction with others. Social buildings are critical since they can find the response of persons or groups to state of affairss, interactions, and events that they encounter. It is non the event, interaction, or state of affairs which influences the response of an single, but instead the point of view, societal location, age, gender, societal category, values, beliefs, and attitudes determines their response ( Ritchie A ; Lewis, 2003 ) . The holistic position is another feature of qualitative survey. It is concerned with scrutiny of the whole phenomenon as a many-sided system. Inductive analysis is a characteristic of qualitative research in which an person is involved in blossoming informations, in order to detect the concealed interrelatednesss and dimensions every bit good as analyzing the unfastened inquiries. Unique instance orientation is a feature in which each and every single instance is given value and examined closely, with the thought of roll uping the inside informations of the instances which predominate. Qualitative research design is subjective such that the research worker is actively involved in the state of affairs of research ( Ritchie A ; Lewis, 2003 ) . With qualitative research, a type of trying called purposeful sampling is used to roll up informations for analysis. Purposeful is a type of trying that picks out information that is rich in instances for the intent of in-depth survey. This information that is rich in instances is one that provides a research worker with a great trade of issues refering cardinal importance to the purpose of research. There are many types of purposeful trying viz. , strength sampling, extreme and aberrant instance sampling, maximal fluctuation sampling, typical instance sampling, homogenous sampling, stratified purposeful sampling, concatenation or sweet sand verbena sampling, critical instance sampling, standard sampling, timeserving sampling, corroborating and disconfirming instance sampling, operational sampling, assorted purposeful sampling, and convenience sampling ( Maxwell, 2005 ) . The purposeful sampling is a really of import technique in qualitative research since it increases the effectivity of a plan as the research worker reaches the lower socioeconomic groups. The research worker can now larn much more by sing in deepness on understanding the involvements, inducements, and demands of a little figure of carefully chosen unfortunate households such that it is economical and really enlightening. The research worker will be able to concentrate on the typical cases which can expose a broad assortment ( Ritchie A ; Lewis, 2003 ) . Quantitative research design Quantitative research can be defined as the orderly experimental probe of phenomena and quantitative belongingss and how they are related. The purpose of quantitative research is to construct up and use the theories, hypotheses, and mathematical theoretical accounts holding to make with phenomena. The measuring procedure is cardinal to quantitative research since it offers the cardinal connexion between the mathematical looks of quantitative dealingss and the empirical observations. Quantitative research is loosely used in societal scientific disciplines for case, sociology, political scientific discipline, psychological science and anthropology. In quantitative research, the research worker s purpose is to happen out the relationship between an independent variable and the result or dependant variable within a population. The quantitative research designs are either experimental or descriptive. In a descriptive survey, topics are usually measured one time and the survey establishes simply the relationships between different variables while in an experimental survey the topics are evaluates before and after an intercession and the survey establishes causality ( Creswell, 2003 ) . There are three major types of quantitative research designs viz. , descriptive, quasi-experimental, and experimental research design. A descriptive research design is designed to obtain adequate information sing a certain feature in a given field of survey. It is possible for a descriptive survey to assist in developing theory, placing jobs utilizing current pattern, warranting the current pattern and in doing judgements sing what other may be making while in similar state of affairss. The quasi-experimental designs are meant to give alternate agencies to analyze causality in those state of affairss which are non favourable to experimental control. The experimental research design is designed to promote the highest sum of control in order for the causality to be examined closely ( Punch, 2005 ) . Quantitative research is normally characterized by being deductive, nonsubjective, and can utilize Numberss. Bing deductive agencies that quantitative research trials theory. Quantitative research is nonsubjective because the research worker is believed to obtain, analyze and construe a quantitative information or information, while being isolated. Quantitative research uses the informations that can be structured in signifier of numerical values or that can be converted into Numberss instantly ( Creswell, 2003 ) . Random sampling is a technique that is used during the quantitative research, and it deals with taking a figure of observations which are independent, from a given chance distribution without prosecuting any existent population. A sample is an point selected from a given population under survey, for investigational intents. A random sample is the point that is selected by a technique affecting an irregular constituent. Some times random fluctuations occur, which means that the sample does non stand for the population from which is obtained, and this is referred to as trying mistake. The different types of trying include simple random sampling, stratified sampling, and bunch sampling ( Punch, 2005 ) . In simple random sampling, a sample is chosen such that all samples with similar size are given an equal opportunity of being chosen from the population under probe. Stratified sampling is concerned with taking independent samples from different groups, strata, or subpopulations in a given population under probe. In graded sampling, wise stratification brings about efficiency. Cluster sampling is concerned with taking the sample units within a group under probe ( Creswell, 2003 ) . Differences between quantitative and qualitative research designs Both qualitative and quantitative designs are systematic since to measure up for a specifying rule of research the designs must hold a system. The quantitative research is believed to be nonsubjective while qualitative research is thought to be subjective. It is believed that, in obtaining, analysing and construing a quantitative information or information, the research worker can remain on stray and nonsubjective. This is non the instance with qualitative research since with this type of research the research worker actively involved within the state of affairs of research. Quantitative research is deductive while most qualitative research is inductive. Bing deductive, quantitative research trials theory while the qualitative research generates theory and hence inductive. By the usage of quantitative designs of research, research workers normally obtain consequences that can be easy generalized while the qualitative designs of research normally produce the consequences that are non easy to generalise. Quantitative research uses the informations that can be structured in signifier of numerical values or that can be converted into Numberss instantly while qualitative research uses informations that can non be transported instantly into numerical values.

Measuring crime SC2E36C Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Measuring crime SC2E36C - Essay Example 1999). According to him, the population from which the data is to be collected from should be studied well and all the traits of the various members should be considered before getting the sample. Traits like; social welfare of the parents, the environment of oneââ¬â¢s upbringing, community perceptions among many other aspects should be considered before the sample is determined. In this case, the sample should be unbiased in that, each and every trait as said above should be included in the final sample. In this case, for the sample to be unbiased, all social groups should be included. The social welfare of the parents should be considered so as to have a sample with professionals, unskilled workers, skilled workers etc. Male and female representation should almost be the same and should be directed by availability (Judith, G and Nicki, T 2004). To get a good sample which is representative, then the following sampling techniques should be used according to the importance of the study. The first is random sampling where all the elements of the population have an equal chance of being selected. To Tronchim, W. (2008), this is applied in case the population is homogenous; the population is not spread. In this research study, this cannot be used since the population is not homogenous. Another technique is stratified sampling. In stratified sampling, the entire population is sub-divided into stratus each consisting of members which have the same traits (Tronchim, W. 2008). For example in this case, parents who are professionals should be counted as strata. Again, unskilled parents should form other strata. It is from the stratus that a sample is drawn where the sample size depends on the error of estimation and the size of the population. However, statistically, the larger the sample size the effective the findings as well the generalization of the same. This is the right technique to use in

Acquiring Business Communication Skills Necessary for Business Graduates - Essay Example Since the beginning of time, human beings have interacted by using various methods of communication such as verbal and nonverbal cues, in an effort to understand each other and cooperate through different tasks. Communication can be described as the process of imparting, participating and conveying information from one individual to another using an appropriate channel. Communication involves four elements, which include the sender, the message, the channel and the recipient. In the business world, managers and employees need to communicate effectively in order to work towards achieving the organisationââ¬â¢s goals and objectives (Cheesebro, Linda and Francisco 4). General communication skills refer to the basic communication competences that people use in the society or family settings. General communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with others in an informal context. They help individuals to understand people and situations, resolve conflicts, show affection, build trust and establish serene environments that promote healthy interaction. General communication skills include nonverbal communication skills and verbal communication skills (Worth 6). Verbal communication skills consist of speaking and listening skills. In various contexts, normal communication process mainly involves conversations where words are used to exchange of ideas, views and information. For the individuals involved to understand each other during a conversation, intelligible speech has to be made and the recipients need to listen in order to comprehend the message. Speaking skills involve articulating oneââ¬â¢s words to be brief, clear and concise (Robinson, Jeanne and Robert). This helps the recipients to understand each word and process it to form meaning. One also needs to use the right tone and volume when speaking in order to show

Principle of Account Essay Example for Free
Principle of Account Essay A microscope is an instrument used to see objects that are too small for the naked eye. The science of investigating small objects using such an instrument is called microscopy. Microscopic means invisible to the eye unless aided by a microscope. There are many types of microscopes, the most common and first to be invented is theoptical microscope which uses light to image the sample. Other major types of microscopes are the electron microscope (both the transmission electron microscope and the scanning electron microscope) and the various types of scanning probe microscope. Microscope 1. An optical instrument, consisting of a lens, or combination of lenses, for making an enlarged image of an object which is too minute to be viewed by the naked eye. Parts and Specifications Historians credit the invention of the compound microscope to the Dutch spectacle maker, Zacharias Janssen, around the year 1590. The compound microscope uses lenses and light to enlarge the image and is also called an optical or light microscope (vs. an electron microscope). The simplest optical microscope is the magnifying glass and is good to about ten times (10X) magnification. The compound microscope has two systems of lenses for greater magnification, 1) the ocular, or eyepiece lens that one looks into and 2) the objective lens, or the lens closest to the object. Before purchasing or using a microscope, it is important to know the functions of each part. Eyepiece Lens: the lens at the top that you look through. They are usually 10X or 15X power. Tube: Connects the eyepiece to the objective lenses Arm: Supports the tube and connects it to the base Base: The bottom of the microscope, used for support Illuminator: A steady light source (110 volts) used in place of a mirror. If your microscope has a mirror, it is used to reflect light from an external light source up through the bottom of the stage. Stage: The flat platform where you place your slides. Stage clips hold the slides in place. If your microscope has a mechanical stage, you will be able to move the slide around by turning two knobs. One moves it left and right, the other moves it up and down. Revolving Nosepiece or Turret: This is the part that holds two or more objective lenses and can be rotated to easily change power. Objective Lenses: Usually you will find 3 or 4 objective lenses on a microscope. They almost always consist of 4X, 10X, 40X and 100X powers. When coupled with a 10X (most common) eyepiece lens, we get total magnifications of 40X (4X times 10X), 100X , 400X and 1000X. To have good resolution at 1000X, you will need a relatively sophisticated microscope with an Abbe condenser. The shortest lens is the lowest power, the longest one is the lens with the greatest power. Lenses are color coded and if built to DIN standards are interchangeable between microscopes. The high power objective lenses are retractable (i. . 40XR). This means that if they hit a slide, the end of the lens will push in (spring loaded) thereby protecting the lens and the slide. All quality microscopes have achromatic, parcentered, parfocal lenses. Rack Stop: This is an adjustment that determines how close the objective lens can get to the slide. It is set at the factory and keeps students from cranking the high power objective lens down into the slide and breaking things. You would only need to adjust this if you were using very thin slides and you werent able to focus on the specimen at high power. Tip: If you are using thin slides and cant focus, rather than adjust the rack stop, place a clear glass slide under the original slide to raise it a bit higher) Condenser Lens: The purpose of the condenser lens is to focus the light onto the specimen. Condenser lenses are most useful at the highest powers (400X and above). Microscopes with in stage condenser lenses render a sharper image than those with no lens (at 400X). If your microscope has a maximum power of 400X, you will get the maximum benefit by using a condenser lenses rated at 0. 5 NA or greater. 0. 65 NA condenser lenses may be mounted in the stage and work quite well. A big advantage to a stage mounted lens is that there is one less focusing item to deal with. If you go to 1000X then you should have a focusable condenser lens with an N. A. of 1. 25 or greater. Most 1000X microscopes use 1. 25 Abbe condenser lens systems. The Abbe condenser lens can be moved up and down. It is set very close to the slide at 1000X and moved further away at the lower powers. Diaphragm or Iris: Many microscopes have a rotating disk under the stage. This diaphragm has different sized holes and is used to vary the intensity and size of the cone of light that is projected upward into the slide. There is no set rule regarding which setting to use for a particular power. Rather, the setting is a function of the transparency of the specimen, the degree of contrast you desire and the particular objective lens in use. How to Focus Your Microscope: The proper way to focus a microscope is to start with the lowest power objective lens first and while looking from the side, crank the lens down as close to the specimen as possible without touching it. Now, look through the eyepiece lens and focus upward only until the image is sharp. If you cant get it in focus, repeat the process again. Once the image is sharp with the low power lens, you should be able to simply click in the next power lens and do minor adjustments with the focus knob. If your microscope has a fine focus adjustment, turning it a bit should be all thats necessary. Continue with subsequent objective lenses and fine focus each time. What to look for when purchasing a microscope. If you want a real microscope that provides sharp crisp images then stay away from the toy stores and the plastic instruments that claim to go up to 600X or more. There are many high quality student grade microscopes on the market today. They have a metal body and all glass lenses. One of the most important considerations is to purchase your instrument from a reputable source. Although a dealer may give you a great price, they may not be around next year to help you with a problem. One dealer that we can highly recommend is Microscope World. They offer a wide variety of instruments at very competitive prices.

Rhythmic Procedures and Rudimental Drumming :: essays papers
Rhythmic Procedures and Rudimental Drumming In history, drumming and the use of percussive instruments have had a significant role in peopleââ¬â¢s lives. Not only do the people who play these instruments enjoy them, but it is said that "there is as much pleasure participating in, as listening to and admiring an expert drummerââ¬â¢s improvisations". The use of drums has been recognized as being able to put people into spiritual trances throughout history. The drum is a musical instrument with great power and presence that gives the "pulse" or backbone to the music it is incorporated with. There are three rudimental rhythmic procedures that have been known in drumming for the use of communication, entertainment and both communication and entertainment together. These are; (1) the use of a drum as a speech surrogate or a "talking drum". These methods of playing were used for communicative purposes and often codes were used to be played over long distances for the sending and receiving of messages. (2) The use of both iconic and symbolic dimensions of communication within music and dance. Throughout many festivals in Africa, depending on the event being celebrated, drumbeats are used to dictate the type of dance to be done by the listeners. For example, at the time of a birth of twins there is a different dance done than at a birth of a single child and the beat of the drum instructs the listeners to do the appropriate dance. (3) This rhythmic procedure is most commonly used today and is the pure musical play of rhythms in dance. There are no communicative obligations within this type of music, which allows for free-form dance and unlimited use of improvisational strategies by the musician. The third rhythmic procedure will be most emphasized throughout this report for a few reasons. One reason is that it is not possible to make generalizations about drumming as a whole, used as communication devices because every society in early Africa had itââ¬â¢s unique fingerprints on sounds of the rhythmic beats they have played. Another reason for the emphasis on this rhythmic procedure and not the first two is the accessibility of rhythmical facts pertaining to each. Unfortunately, much of the known facts about rudimental African rhythmic procedures is stored within the minds of the tribal musicians themselves. One phrase I learned from researching this topic is that "the life and energy of the drummer lives half within the drummerââ¬â¢s soul, and half within the drum he plays".

Kate Kellerââ¬â¢s Character Analysis Essay
Kate Keller plays the role of an obsessive mother and a typical wife in the play ââ¬Å"All My Sonsâ⬠It his her motherliness that defines her character the most, as the fist few stage directions refer to ââ¬Å"motherâ⬠as, ââ¬ËMother [â⬠¦] is in her early fifties, a woman of uncontrolled inspirations, and an overwhelming capacity for love.ââ¬â¢ This ââ¬Å"overwhelming capacity of loveâ⬠is mostly seen for her son Larry who seems to be dead, but Kate is just not ready to accept reality and move on. Even before motherââ¬â¢s entry in the play, the readers find out a few details about her through the stage directions and even the dialogues of the other characters, such as the dialogue between Chris and Joe where Chris threatens to abandon home and their business if Joe somehow does not convince Kate for Chrisââ¬â¢s wedding with Ann. Kateââ¬â¢s obsession with her son Larry, who never returned from war goes to such an extent that she has dreams about him, leading her to cry every night. She is just not ready to accept her sonââ¬â¢s death and for the first time her ââ¬Å"controllingâ⬠nature is seen as she tries to manipulatively tries to create distance between her older son Chris and ââ¬Å"Larryââ¬â¢s girlâ⬠, Ann; ââ¬Å"I think her nose got longerâ⬠Her obsession goes as far as even symbolizing the apple treeââ¬â¢s fall as something dangerous, and something harmful coming towards Larry. The fall of the apple tree probably foreshadows the death of Larry, instigating his family to move on. Another main characteristic that Kate posses is manipulativeness. She avoids every discussion that she realizes, goes towards the future of Chris and Ann. She either deviates the topic or just acts as though she has a headache. She manipulates her discussion with Chris in such a way where Chris finds it impossible to even mention their future together. Kate first talks about how proud she is that Ann has not move on and that she is still waiting for Larry to return, and then suddenly asks him if he is interested in Ann, and ofcourse by then Chris is in no state to hurt his mother further by admitting his love for Ann. Apart from Larry, Kate is also the one holding the family together. She is the central character of the play who knows the ââ¬Ëbigââ¬â¢ secret, and is making sure that her husband is safe from any confrontations and any sort of trouble. Another reason for holding onto Larry and believing that he is still alive is the fact that if Larry was actually dead, it would be nobodyââ¬â¢s fault but Joeââ¬â¢s. She knows the crime that Joe had indulged in and she could not accept the fact that her son may have been killed by his own father, and her own loving husband. She is also the one who again manipulated facts and saved Joe from going to prison; instead framing Annââ¬â¢s father and sending him to prison. This secret is another thing that bothers her immensely. However the example of keeping the secret and saving her husband from going to prison shows her smartness and her desire for keeping the family together, as one. But at the same time it also gives the readers a further insight into her character, as the keeping of this secret also hints towards her weaknesses; her family. Her weakness takes her to the extent of dishonesty and guilt. As mentioned above, she depicts the character of a ââ¬Å"typicalâ⬠good wife, by saving her husband and trying to keep her family one through love. Throughout the play as readers, we realize that there are dark secrets to be revealed and Kate is somehow a central part of it. She plays a significant role in saving her family, but at the same time she is also seen as one of the weaker characters from outside; considering her nightmares and her troubles dealing with the loss of Larry. Therefore it can be argues whether she forms the strongest character in the play, or the weakest.

Globalization and Human Welfare - 1656 Words
International free trade has become the foundation of neoliberal globalization. The main organizations for carrying out free trade are World Trade Organization (WTO) established on 1995, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). The main aim was to promote development and trade. Trade has become the lens through which development is perceived, rather than the other way round . The concept of trade evolved right from Adam Smith and David Ricardo who introduced the concept of comparative advantage which compares the productiveness across countries. Here countries make use of their natural resources, climate, skills etc. According to Paul Krugman trade reflects arbitrary or temporary advantages resulting from economies of scaleâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦World trade has grown five times in real terms since 1980, and its share of world GDP has risen from 36 percent to 55 percent over this period. â⬠¢ During the 1990s more Asian countries were integrated into the trading system. The developing countries have been catching up with or surpassing high-income countries in their trade openness, reflecting the widespread convergence of low- and middle-income countriesââ¬â¢ trade systems toward the traditionally more open trading regimes in place in advanced economies . Globalization measures distinguish between trade and financial openness and include both ââ¬Å"de factoâ⬠and ââ¬Å"de jureâ⬠measures. Specifically, trade openness is measured by the (unweighted) average tariff rate (ââ¬Å"de jureâ⬠measure), and the ratios of both non-oil exports and non-oil imports to GDP (ââ¬Å"de factoâ⬠measures). Financial openness is measured by the Chinn-Ito index of capital account openness (ââ¬Å"de jureâ⬠measure), the ratios of various types of financial liabilities (foreign direct investment, portfolio equity, and debt) to GDP and the stock of foreign direct investment assets expressed as a percentage of GDP (ââ¬Å"de factoâ⬠measures). The latter, which is closely associated to offshore, outsourcing, may be particularly relevant to measure the impact of globalization on inequality in advanced countries, while its value is minimalShow MoreRelatedGlobalization and the Decline of the Welfare State1172 Words à |à 5 P ages The idea that globalization and the welfare states can conflict comes from the fact that: while globalization is based on profit maximization, the welfare states main goal is to reduce, if not eliminate inequality, insecurity and poverty through proper redistribution of wealth mechanisms.
